CALEDONIA — The Cal-Mum Red Raiders hosted the Warsaw Tigers in a Section V midweek match-up that ended with Warsaw firing a 3-point buzzer beater to sink Cal-Mum 48-45.
With the score tied at 45-45 and 18.5 seconds left Warsaw Head Coach, Rob Stedman called his favorite play named after his son.
"We practice that play a lot," said Stedman. "We have to switch up it's name now because it is so well scouted."
The high double screen didn't go quite like it was scripted, but a wide open Hayden Newcomb, from Warsaw, took advantage of the screen and fired a 3-point bomb from the top of the arc.
"I was confident of the shot," said Newcomb. "People think because of my height that i can't shoot but i can. This win was a team effort though, we are like a family."
Newcomb led Warsaw with 21 points and Christian Hallett led Cal-Mum with 15. Cal-Mum was up 27-23 at the half.
