SWIMMING: Divers take the pool

                                                                                          

BATH-HAVERLING — The 2013 LCAA Diving County Championships commenced on Thursday, at the pool at Bath-Haverling. 

Nineteen divers representing the various teams within Livingston County assembled to compete in what was for many of them is the second biggest meet of the year. 
 
Pete Skelly, of Bath-Haverling, took first in the competion and qualified for states in the process with a score of 424.20, excecuting a nearly flawless final dive that brought him two 8.5's from the judges scorecards. 
 
Livonia's Josh Lyons, who just recently broke his schools long standing diving record, took second with a score of 355. Livonia took bronze as well with Colby Wright placing with a 311.5.
 
The competition lasted eleven dives with two warm-up breaks between the sixth and ninth dive. The divers gave a phenomenal performance all around and can now concentrate on sectionals.

LCC hosts Honey Difranco Tournament

GENESEO – Beautiful weekend weather graced Livingston Country Club last weekend for the 2012 Honey Difranco 2-Day Member-Member tournament. The weekend tournament hosted 32 two-person teams vying for the title.

After Saturday’s action, Kevin Tucker and Rick Neubeck sat atop the leader board, and the duo finished Sunday’s 18 holes tied with Sam Montesano and Andy Doerflinger for the lead at +9. Tucker and Neubeck defeated Montesano and Doerflinger in a playoff to clinch the tournament title. Montesano and Doerflinger finished in second place and Dan Beikirch and Gary Simpson placed third.

The next scheduled tournament will take place next Wednesday, when the Senior Handicap Championship commences.
