LIVONIA — The village water line that extends past the village limits for four customers has a billing loophole.
During this weeks Village board meeting members discussed the resolution from 1988 when was a water agreement between four property owners allowing them to use the village water line despite being outside the village. If anyone fails to pay their water village the bill is rolled over into their village taxes, but because these properties are outside the village the money would be rolled over into their county taxes.
"The issue came up when there was a water bill past due, which is now paid in full," said Livonia Village Mayor Calvin Lathan, "In the future if there is a past due water bill we want to make sure that we receive the funds."
The Village is continuing to discuss and look into their options on making sure the funds go to the right municipality.
