Livingston County experiencing moderate drought

LIVINGSTON COUNTY — Plants may need some extra attention today, as the Climate Prediction Center has placed Livingston County under “moderate drought” status this morning.

Other areas in western New York, including the Rochester area, are also experiencing a moderate drought. Local meteorologists predict some rainfall tonight or tomorrow, which will help relieve the drought.

The Climate Prediction Center collects data for its drought monitor maps until each Tuesday morning at 7 Eastern Standard Time. The maps, which are based on analysis of the data, are released each Thursday at 8:30 Eastern Time, according to http://www.droughtmonitor.unl.edu.
