Poll: D.A. McCaffrey leading a field of potential candidates

LIVINGTSON COUNTY — In an unofficial poll by the GeneseeSun.com for the District Attorney's race the recently appointed D.A. Greg McCaffrey is leading a field of potential candidates.

The GeneseeSun.com called 200 randomly selected home phones in Livingston County and took a poll. The single question they were asked was,  "If you had to vote today for Livingston County District Attorney who would you choose, District Attorney Greg McCaffrey , Eric Schiener, or Steve Sessler?”

Of the 131 voters who answered the phone, and who didn't hang up on the pollsters, the results were:

Greg McCaffrey  74
Steven Sessler     38
Eric Schiener    19
No data recorded  69

Sessler and Schiener will square off in a Republican primary. If either loses they still have the option of running as an independent, so all three candidates were included in the poll.

D.A. Greg McCaffrey was recently appointed to the position by Gov. Cuomo and quickly dismissed Schiener, who had already announced his campaign, from his position as Assistant District Attorney. Steve Sessler is a former Livonia Judge and defense attorney practicing in Livingston County and has already announced his campaign as well.

The GeneseeSun.com is also conducting a Facebook poll as well: http://apps.facebook.com/my-polls/36e4cjkb
