GENESEO — At its Thursday meeting, the Geneseo Town Board addressed the status of the Gateway zoning revision proposal which was rejected by the County Planning Board on Jan. 12.
The proposal went to the Planning Board in parts, resulting in the Planning Board first approving the rezoning of 50 acres southwest of Volunteer Road, as well as the addition of Mixed Use II—residential apartments—to the currently Mixed Use I—commercial and light industrial—Gateway area. The Planning Board then rejected the amendment to make the maximum density for MU-II 14 dwelling units per gross acre as opposed to 10 units, and to make the maximum height for principal buildings three stories instead of two.
The Town Board could approve the rejected proposal by voting a supermajority, which requires over 50% of the Board’s members voting their approval. Instead, Town Supervisor Will Wadsworth said the Board found no need for buildings in MU-II to be three stories, or 14 units per acre.
The Board voted and reached a decision to adopt the proposed local law adding MU-II, while keeping the maximum units at 10 and the maximum height at two stories.
