The Avon Wesleyan Church .... their motto is “Looking Up and Reaching Out”. And that is exactly what they are doing.
Six years ago when Pastor Dan Jones took the reins as Senior Pastor, the Church had been in the process of exploring the possibilities of relocating and expanding. The decision was made for a new building as the finances became available and as the ministry needs arose.
In September 2010 the site development began at their new location on Routes 5 and 20 between Avon and Caledonia. They extended the water to the property, completed a parking lot and brought road access to Route 5. The most recent additions to the property, known as “The Four Corners”, is the building of a 40 foot by 80 foot pavilion. According to Pastor Jones, “the facility will be an enclosed pavilion, with overhead doors, bathrooms, electric, and a storage area, similar to the pavilion in Lima at Mark Tubb’s park.” They are hopeful that with the completion of the pavilion, scheduled for later this summer, along with the Church’s continuation of doing a live nativity, which brought in over 500 people in 2011, and having summer services there as well, Pastor Jones envisions picnics, graduation parties, and many other opportunities for the people of the community to utilize the Four Corners.
Anyone interested in more information about the use of the building or the other services Avon Wesleyan Church as to offer are encouraged to contact them at (585) 226-3577, find them on facebook or check them out at www.avonwesleyanchurch.com.
Pastor Jones would also like to extend an invitation to all to check out any Sunday morning service, either at 9:00 am or 10:30 am with childcare provided at each service. They will also have a 7:00 pm service on Good Friday and a sunrise service on Sunday, April 8th to celebrate Easter at the Four Corners location at 7:00 am, with a breakfast following at the church’s current location 300 Genesee Street in Avon.
